HOW MUCH SNOT CAN ONE PERSON PRODUCE?
Seriously… How much snot can one person produce?
The mind boggles at how much I have produced over the years. I could bet money on it that it is hundreds of times more than the average person.
I started getting allergic rhinitis at the age of 21. I am now 38. That’s a pretty long stint of sneezing and blowing my ever watery nose. I swear I must keep Kleenex in business.
When my allergies started I had no idea that I would still be battling with these issues 18 years later. These issues have not gone by unaddressed. I have done everything known to man. I have had allergy tests, homeopathy, naturopathy, desensitisation injections, salt therapy, acupuncture, Chinese herbs, chiropractic, spiritual healing, chakra cleaning, guts cleanses, parasite cleanses.
I have been gluten free, dairy free, salicylate free, preservative free, eaten only white foods, eaten only meat and fats. I have taken all the supplements in the world and at stages even eaten load of pharmaceuticals such as antibiotics, antihistamines and steroids, all which mask the issue and as soon as you stop them, the allergies and congestion hits all over again. I have done so much and still nothing stops my hay fever and thus I get congestion and in turn nasal polyps.
I know I am not alone.
I thought I was for ages there. I lived thinking that I was one of these freaks who would have to live in a bubble. But I have since come to realise since growing my online presence and having friends and connections world wide… that unfortunately, so many others deal with the same issues. We are the sinus sisters!
I have had 2 sinus surgeries to remove the nasal polyps and within 6 months they grow back! The process becomes tedious and boring, to say the least. Only last week, I took myself along to the Emergency Department and had an MRI to make sure I don’t have some weird brain abnormalities or tumours. I was convinced that was partly the reason for my constant headaches lately. Well… not exactly, but I thought to myself, Keyna you are going to look like a real tosser if you just “assume” its your sinus issues causing the headaches and it turns out you have something really sinister happening in your head. So I put my mind to rest and had that shit checked out. Yep… sure as eggs… It’s a face full of polyps that has me wanting to rest my pounding head every after afternoon. But thats good.. Better the devil you know. And I know my sinus demons well!
So armed with the new found info that I am not suffering from some massive brain growth, and that its just sinus drama… I have been preparing all my Essential Oil Sinus Remedies.
So I thought, I shouldn’t keep all of these to myself. So I am going to share them with you all.
If you ever have sinus issues. Please feel free to reach out and ask me anything you like.
I am treated by two of the best ENT’s (ear nose and throat doctors) in Australia. I have had extensive treatments and know a lot about these problems. I am even in a medical journal, being so weird and wonderful! Lucky me hahaha.
So anyhow, I hope you get some relief and or support from some of these remedies.
Peace out Sinus Sisters. x
Steam Inhalation for Sinusitis.
2 drops of Eucalyptus, Tea Tree and Easy Air essential oils in a ceramic or heat proof glass bowl of boiling hot water. Put a towel over your head to form a tent and close your eyes while inhaling for as long as you can… the steam and these powerful essential oils will help soothe and loosen that congestion.
Hot Compress for Sinusitis
In a bowl of hot water add 4 drops of Lavender, 4 drops of Eucalyptus and 4 drops of Lemon essential oil.
Get a wash cloth and soak it in the hot water with the oils. Squeeze it out and apply to your face, directly on the sinuses affected and causing pain. So above the eyes on the forehead, along the nose between the eyes, or on the cheek bones underneath the eyes. Allow the cloth to dry and go cool, about 15-20 minutes should be enough.
Topical application of oils to the Sinus area
I do many variations but my favourite go to oils to apply diluted (ALWAYS DILUTE WHEN APPLYING OILS) to my sinuses are these:
Peppermint, Eucalyptus, DigestZen, Tea Tree, Rosemary, White Fir, Lemon, Frankincense, Ginger and Litsea.
Some other things to consider
Up your intake of Vitamin C and Zinc when you have sinus issues. Also increase your intake of Garlic, Apple Cider Vinegar and hearty chicken broths. Drink heaps of water. Take your Oregano oil internally as it acts as a natural antibiotic. And also take care of your gut health by having some fermented foods or a good probiotic.
Use your Neti Pot, Fess or other sinus irrigation. Cleansing your sinuses out with warm saline solution will help flush the nasties out!
Please diffuse our Eucalyptus, Tea Tree, Lemon, Easy Air and Oregano. They will bring a lot of relief!
Hang in there!
Sinus issues are the pits. They cause pain, dizziness, irritability, fatigue and just overall shit feelings. If all else fails… send me a message! We can complain about it together! xxxx
